Gharib Shah Union enters Naya Nazimabad Football Tourney semis

KARACHI: Gharib Shah Union Football Club qualified for the semifinals Naya Nazimabad Football Tournament after the match between Hazara Muhammadan and Karachi United ended in a 1-1 draw at Naya Nazimabad Football Ground.

The tournament was initially scheduled to be held in Ramazan but due to lockdown restrictions the tournament was postponed due to lockdown restrictions amid rising Covid-19 cases.

However, the tournament has now resumed after ease in lockdown restrictions and government’s permission to hold outdoor activities.

In the last league match, Karachi United needed a three-goal victory against Hazara Muhammadan to reach the semifinals.

Hazara Mohammadan’s Zain scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute to give his team the lead. Karachi United players made several attempts without success.

Jamshed Ahmed equalized the score-line in the 80th minute. Gharib Shah Union qualified for the semifinals after the match’s result.

The final of the tournament with a prize purse of Rs250,000 will be held on June 12.
