A Ghotki court on Monday sentenced a convict named Imran Tagar to death for the brutal murder of five members of his own family, including his mother, sister, and three minor nieces.
The verdict was announced by Additional Sessions Judge-I Ghotki under Sessions Case No. 395/2025, related to the incident that occurred on September 20, 2023.
According to the court’s decision, Tagar was convicted of murdering the five relatives and severely injuring another girl named Safia. The case was initially registered under FIR No. 345/2023 at the A-Section Police Station, Ghotki.
The judge pronounced five separate death sentences, one for each murder. For the crime of harming the injured girl, Tagar was also given an additional sentence of 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000.
It was clarified that all sentences handed down to the convict will run concurrently.
As per legal procedure, the court has ordered the reference to be sent to the Sindh High Court, from which confirmation of the death sentence is necessary.
