The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan (EGB) has annulled polling at a women’s station in constituency GBA-15 and ordered a re-poll following violent disturbances that disrupted the voting process, an official notification said today.
Loshi Thak women’s polling station was affected by stone-throwing, firing, and a breakdown of security on election day, which halted polling and prevented a significant number of registered voters from casting their ballots.
The commission said nearly 200 votes were recorded before the situation deteriorated further, forcing the evacuation of polling staff under security cover. It added that a substantial portion of voters remained unable to exercise their franchise.
Re-polling at the affected polling station has been set for June 15, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with polling to continue uninterrupted throughout the day.
The Election Commission said comprehensive arrangements would be made to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and legally compliant vote, with the Returning Officer for GBA-15 assigned direct supervisory responsibility.
Separately, the Election Commission has announced results for 22 constituencies in the Gilgit-Baltistan polls. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leads with 10 seats, followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with four. Independents have secured seven seats, while the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) has won one. Results for GBA-13 and GBA-14 in Astore are still pending.
