Islamabad, November 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): A meeting of the Board of Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority was held today in the Ministry. Chairman of the Board Dr. Fazl-e-Hadi and other members held a meeting with Dr. Zafar Mirza SAPM on Health. Dr. Zafar Mirza said on the occasion that the authority is mandated for provision of quality healthcare services, by implementing quality standards in the healthcare sector through a regulatory framework. This will ensure provision of quality healthcare services through Registration, Inspections and Licensing. Thus improving quality of services, promoting patient safety and develop mechanisms for banning quackery in all its forms and manifestations.
The Act also has provision to redress complaints/ grievances. Dr. Zafar Mirza thanked all the members for their valuable contribution and for agreeing volunteer for this noble cause. Islamabad lacks regulatory mechanism and is lagging behind in healthcare. Establishment of this Authority is at an important juncture wherein Government is implementing major reforms in the health sector. It is indeed a great opportunity for the Authority to establish quality standards in health-care.
Dr. Syed Fazl-e-Hadi thanked the Ministry for its support and Chairman of Board of IHRA. The Chair said that Board has been assigned a very important task. He called upon members of the Authority work diligently and conscientiously. Powers vested in the board has to be used with discretion and caution so as not to disrupt the system but bring improvement, Dr. Syed Fazl-e-Hadi said. The meeting took held deliberations and took important decisions including advertisement for appointment of CEO, Organogram of IHRA and budget of the Authority, shared Dr. Syed Fazl-e-Hadi.
