Governor Urges Immediate Action to Protect Oceans

Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, in his special message on World Oceans Day, said today that the protection of marine life and the environment is a national as well as a collective responsibility, and that effective and urgent measures are essential to protect oceans from pollution.

He stated that the increasing use of plastic poses serious threats to marine ecosystems and aquatic life. Therefore, the public must play an active role in reducing marine pollution and protecting the environment.

The governor emphasized that keeping Karachi’s coastline clean is a shared responsibility and urged citizens to adopt environmentally responsible practices.

Hashmi particularly encouraged young people to actively participate in environmental awareness and conservation campaigns.

He said that various initiatives were being undertaken across the province to promote the use of environmentally friendly alternatives and sustainable practices. The governor further stated that preserving marine ecosystems is essential for ensuring a safe and sustainable future for coming generations.

He added that more practical measures were needed to effectively utilize marine resources and promote the Blue Economy, stating that responsible use of ocean resources could create new opportunities for economic growth, employment, and sustainable development.
