Governor Urges Stronger Industry-ICMA Partnership

Governor Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, met a delegation from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA), led by its President, Azeem Hussain Siddiqui, at the Governor House. The delegation also included Aamir Ejaz Khan, Hakeem Ali Jatoi,and Asim Hussain Khan.

On the occasion, ICMA President Azeem Hussain Siddiquibriefed the Governor on the institute’s performance, saying that more than 17,000 students are currently enrolled at ICMA campuses across Pakistan. He added that the demand for ICMA-qualified professional accountants continues to grow both nationally and internationally.

Hashmi said that ICMA should further strengthen its collaboration with industry to provide students with better practical training and employment opportunities. He added that professional accountants play a vital role in preventing corruption, promoting financial transparency, safeguarding national resources, and ensuring fiscal discipline.

He further said that preventing the misuse of national wealth and maintaining financial discipline are among the foremost responsibilities of professional accountants. The Governor emphasized that Pakistan’s youth possess immense potential and should be provided with quality education, modern skills, and equal opportunities to excel.

Hashmi also stressed the importance of introducing accounting education at the secondary school level to promote financial literacy, responsibility, and planning skills among students. He said that professional education aligned with modern requirements is essential for Pakistan’s economic growth and sustainable prosperity.
