Govt should highlight Kashmir issue properly: Sardar Yaqoob

KARACHI: Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan has said that the government should highlight the Kashmir issue properly at international forum.

 

Addressing a press conference at a local cricket ground, he said the silence of the USA, UK and European Union countries over Indian atrocities on the Kashmiris was worrisome. On the occasion, Sardar Maqbool Zaman, Sardar Zulfiqar, Sardar Nazakat and others were also present, according to a statement issued on Monday.

 

However, Yaqoob further said that the growing cruelties had compelled the Kashmiris to raise arms. He said the special status of occupied Kashmir should be revived. He said the Kashmiris must be given the right of plebiscite as per the resolutions of the United Nations.

 

He said by changing domicile laws, India wanted to turn the Kashmiris into minority. He said this conspiracy would be foiled at every cost. Yaqoob said the hearts of Pakistanis beat with the hearts of Kashmiris. He said every year Pakistanis celebrate the Kashmir Day to show their commitment and love to the Kashmiri brethren.

 

He said: “We have full confidence on the whole nation and Pak Army and they hoped that the Kashmir issue would be resolved soon. Later, the trophy of a cricket tournament being arranged in connections with the Kashmir Day was unveiled.
