Karachi:The installation of new incinerator machine has started at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and is likely to complete by the end of September 2020.
The new advanced incinerator is being installed at JPMC for disposal of medical waste including disposable syringes, drips, urine or blood bags, needles, fluids and other used wastage.
An official at JPMC told PPI that the second incinerator was being installed in the institution for safe disposal of medical waste of this hospital as well as generated by nearby government hospitals. He informed that installation work was underway and would be completed by the end of this month.
He explained that infected medical waste like syringes, drips, urine or blood bags, needles, fluids and other used items are disinfected through sterilizer in a day as per standard operating procedure (SOP).
