High Commissioner meeting Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Victoria

Canberra, November 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): High Commissioner Babar Amin met with Hon Richard Wynne, Minister for Multicultural Affairs of Victoria in Melbourne. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest and explore potential areas of collaboration between Pakistani provinces and Victoria.

High Commissioner was appreciative of Victoria’s success as a hub of quality education which was attracting an ever-increasing number of international students to the State, including a large number from Pakistan. He mentioned the existence of opportunities for collaboration between Pakistan’s higher education institutions and local universities. Minister Wynne appreciated the idea and undertook to discuss it with universities in Melbourne.

High Commissioner thanked the Victorian government for taking excellent care of Pakistani community. Minister concurred with the High Commissioner stating that the Pakistani community has been able to mark its presence and is contributing positively to Australia in a short period of time. He added that Pakistani community was among the “most peaceful and law-abiding” communities in Victoria.
