Top civil and police officials will gather in Sehwan Sharif on Thursday to devise a comprehensive strategy for managing law and order, traffic, and essential services for the millions of expected pilgrims at the 774th annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
This important consultative meeting has been organized by the Sindh government’s Department of Auqaf, Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr. The meeting will be chaired by Provincial Minister Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi.
This high-level meeting will be held on January 22 in the conference room of the Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences in Sehwan Sharif.
Several high-ranking officials, including the Commissioner of Hyderabad Division, DIGs of Hyderabad Range and Motorway Police, and the Deputy Commissioner and SSP of Jamshoro, will attend the meeting.
Representatives from the National Highway Authority, district health services, the irrigation department, HESCO, and local bodies will also be included in the meeting. Elected public representatives and the Parliamentary Secretary for Auqaf, Shazia Karim Sanghar, are also expected to participate.
The agenda will include a detailed review of the arrangements for the three-day event, covering security protocols, traffic management, health facilities, sanitation, accommodation for pilgrims, and the uninterrupted supply of electricity and water.
The annual Urs is scheduled to be held from February 7 to 9.
According to a spokesperson for the Auqaf Department, the primary objective of this meeting is to ensure effective measures are in place to provide a safe, organized, and well-facilitated experience for the large number of devotees coming from across the country.
