Hina Khar presents Pakistan’s human rights progress report at HRC in Geneva

Islamabad: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar presented the Pakistan’s human rights progress report at Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva on Monday. She outlined legislative, policy and institutional measures taken by Pakistan to safeguard and advance basic rights. Welcoming the constructive feedback from States, she expressed the resolve to build on the progress made so far.

Hina Rabbani Khar said democratic institutions are gaining strength and acting as defenders and promoters of basic rights and freedoms for all citizens. She highlighted a range of progressive legislations to promote and protect basic rights, dignity and freedoms of the vulnerable and the marginalized, especially women, children, transgenders, elderly people and persons with disabilities. She said Pakistan is a leading voice of the vulnerable and the oppressed.
