The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) today expressed grave concern over the ongoing detention of the Pakistani crew of MT Honor 25 by Somali pirates, calling for immediate and decisive action from the Pakistani government and international bodies.
According to reports, the hostages are facing harsh conditions, subsisting on contaminated water and inadequate food. This ordeal has also placed significant psychological pressure on the families of the captives, which HRCP deems intolerable.
HRCP has expressed unwavering support for the families protesting in Karachi, who are demanding the safe return of their loved ones. The organization insists that the life, dignity, and welfare of Pakistani seafarers be made an immediate national priority.
In light of these developments, HRCP’s call for action has highlighted the urgent need and importance of joint efforts to ensure the release of the crew and prevent such incidents in the future.
