IG Punjab chaired a session regarding IT projects of Punjab Police at Central Police Office

Lahore, July 14, 2020 (PPI-OT): Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastgir said that for elimination of crimes from society, taking criminals behind the bars, quick resolution of public complaints and improving service delivery with effective use of modern technology is the need of time therefore, operations working system of Police should be upgraded with new features and modern software of modern technology so that supremacy of law and protection of wealth and lives of people may be improved.

He further said that new features should be incorporated into 8787 IGP complaint center, police station record management, criminal record office, hotel eye, crime mapping and monitoring and surveillance systems by keeping in view the requirements for improving the progress of Police teams whereas IT projects should be further upgraded in the light of feedback received through public and field staff.

He further said that all cases registered in all districts across the province should be digitally monitored and from registration of case to court decision, all details should be updated on system into phases gradually so that from RPO to DPO and all supervisory officers may easily check the status of case whenever they need it also monitor it. He further emphasized that mutual coordination between surveillance systems of safe city cameras and patrolling forces for elimination of street crimes should be improved so that accused involved in cases and professional criminals may be taken behind the bars as soon as possible. These views were expressed by him while he was directing to officers in IT based projects session at central police office today.

In the session, Addl IG IAB Azhar Hameed Khokhar briefed IG Punjab about collective performance of first six months of current year and told that total 50156 complaints have been received on 8787 complaint center from January 2020 to June 2020. Among these complaints, 44554 (89%) have been resolved. Via phone call, 32283 Complaints have been received whereas from other sources collectively 17873 complaints have been received. After investigation, 9989 (22%) complaints were proved false whereas applicants of 10153 (24%) complaints refused to pursue the case and applicants of 2581 (6%) complaints did compromise and agreement between each other.

Addl IG IAB Azhar Hameed Khokhar further told that among 31502 complaints regarding registration of FIRs, 29331 have been compensated whereas 2171 complaints are still under hearing. Likewise among 8877 complaints regarding poor investigation and change of investigation, 7364 have been resolved whereas 1513 complaints are under process. While sharing details about complaints of Police services he said that the citizens registered 6669 complaints among which 5379 have been resolved whereas 1272 are under hearing.

While sharing details of complaints regarding police services, the citizens registered 912 complaints among which 806 have been resolved whereas 106 are still under process. Moreover, among 416 complaints regarding Departmental issues, 269 have been resolved whereas 147 are under hearing. With respect to other public issues, 1387 complaints out of 1780 have been resolved whereas 393 are under hearing. Similarly on Pakistan citizens portal (PMDU), 129119 complaints have been registered and 122444 have been resolved whereas 6675 are under hearing.

During the meeting, DIG IT Waqas Nazeer briefed IG Punjab about up gradation of IT projects and told that work is being done on different projects for provision of facilities to the citizens and making police working system more functional so that with use of available resources, police working system may be made transparent and efficient. IG Punjab acknowledged the progress of 8787 complaint center and said that every application received via front desk, Khidmat Markaz and 8787 complaint system should be resolved within given time frame and in accordance with the devised SOPs so that process of justice provision to the citizens may be improved.
