ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to carry out the delimitation in the federal capital afresh and issue a revised schedule for local government (LG) elections in Islamabad within 65 days.

The IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah directed this while hearing pleas filed by the PTI, PML-N and PPP, seeking a delay in the local government elections for a fresh delimitation after the number of union councils in the federal capital was increased from 50 to 101. The court directed the ECP to submit a report within 65 days after finalizing the delimitations. The court also directed that no votes were to be transferred from one ward to the other.
