The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has achieved a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey, with 50 of its administrative units now operating on the e-office platform. This accomplishment marks the successful completion of the project”s second phase, bringing the institution closer to its goal of a paperless and streamlined administration.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Directorate of Information Systems, reflects the university’s commitment to modernizing its operations. The shift towards digital governance was envisioned by former Rector, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, and continues to receive strong backing from current President, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed.
Phase one, initiated in May 2025, integrated 11 key administrative bodies, including the offices of the Rector, President, and Vice Presidents. This initial stage focused on staff training and the establishment of digital workflows.
Building on this foundation, phase two, launched after Eid on June 18, 2025, successfully transitioned further crucial departments, including Academic Affairs, Finance, and Audit. Twenty-three of the 25 targeted departments are currently utilizing the e-office system, with data shared with the National Information Technology Board (NITB). Remaining units are nearing full integration. President Al-Ahmed has actively championed the system since taking office, using it personally and advocating for swift implementation.
The upcoming third phase, set to begin on July 14, 2025, will encompass the remaining sections, including academic departments, faculty offices, and student advising units. Comprehensive training sessions are being conducted by the Directorate of Information Systems to ensure a seamless transition. This initiative underscores IIUI’s broader strategy to enhance its technological infrastructure and deliver efficient services while minimizing expenses. The institution’s leadership remains dedicated to establishing IIUI as a technologically advanced university, prepared to tackle digital advancements and provide competitive services across all areas.
