IIUI Protects Identity with Landmark Trademark Registration

In a pivotal move to safeguard its identity and prevent misuse, the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has successfully secured official registration of its name and abbreviation under the Trade Marks Ordinance 2001.

This certification from Pakistan’s Trade Marks Registry grants IIUI legal ownership under Trade Mark No. 667973, encompassing education, training, cultural, and entertainment services.

The registration arrives as IIUI addresses concerns over similar acronyms creating confusion in academic circles. This trademark establishes a legal precedent for brand protection within the education sector.

The achievement follows a dedicated three-year effort by IIUI”s legal team, including Muhammad Ramzan Khan and Naseer Ahmad. Their strategic efforts ensured the university”s claim was recognized by the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, reinforcing IIUI’s commitment to its legacy and credibility.

IIUI”s longstanding use of its identifiers faced unauthorized exploitation, prompting this legal safeguard. With this registration, the university holds exclusive rights to its identity and can act against infringements, securing its name and reputation for the future.
