As a result of police operations in the city over the past week, more than 1,235 suspects were arrested from the East, West, and South Zones, along with a large quantity of illegal weapons and drugs recovered. These extensive efforts included 33 direct encounters with alleged robbers, resulting in one fatality and the arrest of 46 individuals, 33 of whom were injured.
In a report released today, a Karachi Police spokesperson stated that during these encounters, law enforcement officers exchanged fire with the culprits, resulting in one person being killed and 46 suspects being taken into custody. Of those arrested, 33 were found to be injured. Authorities seized 39 different illegal firearms and 17 motorcycles from these detained individuals.
Overall, law enforcement agencies detained over 1,235 individuals from the East, West, and South Zones of the city during the seven-day period. These operations were conducted under the direction of Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan.
As part of an ongoing anti-drug campaign and related police operations, a large quantity of illegal drugs was intercepted. These included 65 kilograms and 699 grams of hashish, along with 3 kilograms and 310 grams of crystal methamphetamine and heroin, with an estimated market value in millions of rupees, recovered from various areas.
From the broader pool of arrested individuals, authorities seized over 130 different types of illegal weapons, including ammunition. It is believed that these weapons were used in street robberies and other criminal activities targeting the public.
Further police efforts in various areas resulted in the recovery of 52 illegally snatched motorcycles and two large vehicles.
The city’s police force reiterated its commitment to continuing these efforts to eradicate crime, restore peace and order, and protect citizens.
