Srinagar, August 08, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, fed up with violent attitude of Indian occupational forces and day-to-day cordon and search operations, five persons on an average go missing every day in the territory.This was revealed in the data compiled by the Crime Branch of local police. The data stated that from January to May 2018, a total of 889 people went missing in occupied Kashmir. Of these, 780 missing persons fall in the age group of 18-60 years and 109 in the age group of 0-18 years, it said.
The data pointed out that a total of 380 males – 333 adults in the 18-60 age group and 47 minors have gone missing during the past five months. As per the media reports, two girls went missing from two locations in occupied Kashmir on May 14.
According to the data, the highest number of missing cases has been reported from Jammu, Kathua and Srinagar districts. In January, 110 persons (18-60 year age group) went missing. 12 persons were reported as missing from Kathua, six from Kupwara, seven each from Doda and Udhampur and five each from Baramulla, Islamabad, Samba and Srinagar.
In the same month, 13 minors went missing. The data says that four persons from Udhampur, three from Jammu, two from Kathua, two from Shopian and one each from Pulwama and Reasi have gone missing.
Psychiatrists cite denial of freedom to expression and movement and constant fear of being confronted to the Indian forces or Hindu extremists are the main reasons behind manifestation of abnormal behaviour of these people. Such a state of mind culminates on leaving the house, without bringing into the knowledge of other members of the family.
