Increase in Temperature: Severe Heat Forecast for Southern Regions of the Country

The Meteorological Department has warned that from April 26 to May 01, the southern regions of the country, including Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan, are expected to experience daytime temperatures 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.

Similarly, from April 27 to 30, the upper regions of the country, including central/upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, may experience daytime temperatures 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.

On Saturday, the weather is expected to be hot and dry in most parts of the country, with severe heat expected in the southern regions. There are chances of partly cloudy weather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, northeastern Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. These areas may experience strong winds, thunderstorms with rain, and hailstorms at some places.

In the past 24 hours, the weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country, with a heatwave in the southern part. Thunderstorms and light rain occurred at some places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, with 2 mm of rain recorded in Astore.

On Friday, the highest temperature was recorded in Shaheed Benazirabad at 47 degrees Celsius, followed by Sibbi and Jacobabad at 46 degrees Celsius, and Dadu, Turbat, Larkana, and Mithi at 45 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday, Islamabad and its surrounding areas are expected to experience partly cloudy weather, with chances of strong winds, thunderstorms with rain, and hailstorms. In most districts of Balochistan, the weather is expected to remain hot and dry, with strong winds anticipated.

In several districts of Punjab, thunderstorms with rain and hailstorms are predicted, while most districts of Sindh will experience severe hot and dry weather, with daytime temperatures 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.

In the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy, with strong winds and thunderstorms with rain possible in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohistan, Kurram, and other areas.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, partly cloudy weather is expected, with chances of thunderstorms and light rain at a few places.
