India cannot alter disputed status of Kashmir: Gilani

Srinagar, October 31, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that India cannot alter the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir by its despotic measures like dividing the territory into two parts.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, maintained that India was grossly violating the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir and the international law. He said by imposing two new puppet dictators in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as Lieutenant Governors, India wanted to suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing just struggle for securing their right to self-determination. However, he said, that such Indian tactics would not be able to force the Kashmiri people into submission.

The APHC Chairman maintained that due to recent Indian actions, hatred, resentment and resistance amongst the Kashmiri people against New Delhi had increased manifold. He said that this volcano could burst any time and the Kashmiris’ anger could take such a shape that would be impossible to be contained by India. He said that the silent protest by Kashmiri people must be taken as a lull before storm. Syed Ali Gilani paid glowing tributes to sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and urged them to remain steadfast in their just cause of securing freedom from Indian occupation.

Meanwhile, normal life remained crippled in the Kashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu region owing to the unprecedented military clampdown on the 88th straight day, today. All shops and business establishments remained closed while public transport was off the roads.

Indian Administrative Service Officers, Girish Chandra Murmu and Radha Krishna Mathur, took oath as new Lieutenant Governors for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Complete shutdown was observed in Kargil district on the second consecutive day, today, in protest against the Indian authorities’ decision of bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir. Reacting to the Indian move, people in the Kashmir Valley said that New Delhi’s decision had robbed them of their identity and special status, terming it as illegal, immoral and unconstitutional as well as against the interests of the residents of the territory.

They maintained that the Kashmir dispute is in the UN, which had passed several resolutions for its settlement. Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Shafi Lone, in a statement in Srinagar said that it was India’s misconception that it could suppress the Kashmiris’ sentiment for freedom through killings and other brutal tactics.

On the other hand, informed sources in Srinagar have said that Narendra Modi-led communal government is all set to implement its plan of Gujarat-like mass killings in occupied Kashmir after officially dividing it into two union territories. They said that the appointment of Girish Chandra Murmu was part of Modi’s nefarious plan. Murmu was Principal Secretary to Narendra Modi when mass killing of Muslims was carried out in Gujarat in 2002 during his tenure as chief minister.

They said Murmu has now been clandestinely given the task to execute the massacre in occupied Kashmir. The Communist Party of India Marxist in a statement issued in New Delhi termed as shameful the Modi government’s decision to formally declare separation of Ladakh from Jammu and Kashmir.
