Industrial Development Pakistan To Boost Tech Sector With New AI, R and D Centers

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, today revealed plans to establish several technology and development centers across Pakistan.

Khan, who chaired a meeting with the CEOs of the Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) and Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC), outlined the government’s initiative to create a Mining and Mineral Processing Technology Center, a Women”s Digital Proficiency Development Center, and an Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twin Center. These projects align with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to modernize the nation’s industrial sector.

Khan also announced the development of Seafood Processing, Packaging, and Storage Plants, as well as upgraded abattoirs and meat processing units throughout the country. He stressed the importance of TUSDEC and PITAC studying successful international examples to implement similar expertise and technical advancements within Pakistan.

Reflecting on his international travels, Khan emphasized the need for Pakistan to keep up with the rapid global advancements in Artificial Intelligence. He cited examples from his visits, stating that PITAC should learn from prominent AI institutions in developed nations. He also mentioned the innovative initiatives he witnessed in Uzbekistan’s Techno Park, such as solarpowered water heaters and prepaid utility billing solutions, suggesting their adaptation in Pakistan.

Furthering the government”s commitment to innovation, Khan announced the establishment of a Research and Development Center in Gujranwala to promote industrial advancement. He also commended PITAC for introducing contemporary skill development and English language programs designed to improve students” prospects in the international employment arena, stressing the significance of modern competencies for both men and women.

Khan concluded the meeting by expressing his desire to personally meet and acknowledge outstanding PITAC students, highlighting their role in Pakistan”s industrial and technological progress.
