Intense heat persists across the country, possibility of rain with thunder in Potohar, Kashmir

The Meteorological Department has forecasted today that generally hot and dry conditions will prevail in most parts of the country. Intense heat is particularly expected in the southern districts of Balochistan. However, there is a possibility of rain and thunder with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon in some selected areas, including northeastern Punjab, Potohar region, northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas.

This morning, a temperature report was released for major cities reflecting the ongoing heatwave: 24 degrees Celsius in Islamabad, 26 degrees Celsius in Lahore, a warm 30 degrees Celsius in Karachi, 28 degrees Celsius in Peshawar, a cool 21 degrees Celsius in Muzaffarabad, 20 degrees Celsius in Quetta, a cool 15 degrees Celsius in Gilgit, and a fresh 14 degrees Celsius in Murree recorded.

Residents of affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the effects of rising temperatures, especially in areas where intense heat is expected. Individuals in areas where rain is expected should be prepared for possible afternoon rain and thunder.
