Srinagar, May 23, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) has said that the authorities are prolonging the illegal detention of its Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt. A JKML spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Masarrat Aalam Butt was not produced before the court, the other day. He said that this was done to prolong the detention of Alam even as the High Court had quashed his 37th detention order issued under draconian law, Public Safety Act, and ordered his release.
The spokesman termed the action as the worst human rights violation and a glaring example of political vendetta. He maintained that such tactics will not deter the Kashmiri people and Hurriyat leaders from pursuing their goal of freedom. He demanded immediate release of Masarrat Aalam Butt and appealed to the world human rights organizations to play role in this regard.
