Srinagar, March 14, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the human rights commission has issued a notice to the Indian authorities including the Home Secretary to respond on a petition seeking relocation of the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, from Jammu’s Kot Bhalwal jail to a jail in Srinagar.
The petition was filed by rights activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo who stated before the commission that Yasin Malik was arrested in a false case and detained under draconian Public Safety Act at Kot Bhalawal jail in Jammu in violation of the rules.
“(Malik) was arrested by the concerned police station and was lodged at Kothi Bagh police station. While in custody and in his absence NIA team raided his house,” the petition read. It also stated that the authorities instead of releasing Muhammad Yasin Malik who was arrested in false case detained him under PSA and shifted him to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. “Malik is suffering from various ailments and needs specialised medical treatment regularly,” the petition added.
The Human Rights Commission also sought the response from the authorities on the plight of wives and children of the Kashmiri youth who returned home under a rehabilitation policy. The commission sought the response on another petition filed by Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, which demanded setting up special homes for them until they are sent back.
