Islamabad, December 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan) and Film Producers and Actors on Tuesday pledged to resolve the longstanding issues of producers, directors, actors and writers. The meeting between IPO-Pakistan and film producers was chaired by Mr. Mujeeb Ahmed Khan, Chairman, IPO-Pakistan. The meeting was attended by Syed Noor, Shan, Sangeeta, Imran Tahir, Ammara Kainat and a large number of producers and actors from film industry. From IPO-Pakistan, Mr. Meesaq Arif, Executive Director, Mr. Syed Nasrullah, Registrar Copyright, Syed Anjum Raza Bukhari, In-charge IPO Lahore Office, Mr. Kashif Latif Malik, Deputy Director, Mr. Ali Rasul, Deputy Director, Mr. Tajammul Haider, Deputy Registrar Copyright and Mr. Aamir Riaz, Assistant Director attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Chairman, IPO-Pakistan informed the participants about the importance of Copyright for the film industry. He apprised them about the linkage between Copyright and film industry and urged them to work for creating maximum awareness among their colleagues in this regard.
Mr. Meesaq Arif, Executive Director, IPO-Pakistan briefed the producers and writers about the draft law of Copyright and sought their valuable suggestion for making it error-free and more effective for the industry.
Actor Shan admitted the fact that till now most of the people in film industry were not fully aware about their copyright rights. He was of the view that these laws should be implemented as soon as possible to make them beneficial for this sector.
Ms. Ammara Kainat opined that she had been through the litigation process of copyright and urged to curtail the cumbersome process of courts. She suggested that in order to implement copyright law there was a dire need for the activation of Copyright Board at earliest. Both sides agreed to meet in near future with their valuable suggestions about the draft copyright law so that it could be promulgated in coming days.
