Iran Envoy Calls for Stronger Pakistan-Iran Ties

The Director General of Khana-e-Farhang (Cultural House) of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Quetta, Syed Abolhassan Meri, while expressing his views on Iran’s leadership, public support, defense policy, and Pakistan-Iran relations, said today that further strengthening ties between Pakistan and Iran was a critical need of the time.

Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, he said that the extraordinary public participation in the funeral of the Supreme Leader of Iran was a clear manifestation of his popular support. He added that despite holding the country’s highest office, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei led a simple and exemplary life and always regarded the people as the true capital of the revolution.

According to Syed Abolhassan Meri, foreign think tanks had spent years attempting to create a rift between Iran and its people, but public trust had remained intact. He added that Iran’s defense doctrine was based on public support and ideological conviction, while promoting media cooperation between Pakistan and Iran held strategic importance. He further said that Iran’s stability was intrinsically linked to Pakistan’s stability.
