Due to rising tensions at Faizabad, the Islamabad Capital Police has issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan; the entry of heavy vehicles into Islamabad will remain banned until further notice.
To ease congestion, light vehicle traffic is being diverted at key points. Vehicles heading towards Faizabad from Rawal Dam Chowk and Garden Flyover are having to use alternative routes. Those traveling from Bhara Kahu, Murree, and Islamabad to Rawalpindi have been advised to choose Park Road and Captain Naeem Tufail Shaheed Chowk.
Commuters coming from Koral towards Islamabad have been urged to use Lehtrar Road and Park Road via Khanna Pul to avoid the affected areas. Similarly, travelers heading from Zero Point towards the Expressway have been directed to use Srinagar Highway and Park Road to navigate around the diversions.
Residents of sectors like I-8 and those accessing 9th Avenue from IJP Road are encouraged to incorporate Srinagar Highway and secondary routes to reduce the bottleneck effect at Faizabad. Meanwhile, residents of sectors F-8 to F-11 and G-10 to G-11 have been advised to use Golra Morr for smooth travel between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has assured citizens of continuous updates through ITP FM 92.4 and its WhatsApp channel to ensure real-time information dissemination. Authorities have appealed for cooperation with the arranged routes to maintain an orderly flow and minimize inconvenience.
