Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) launched a major crackdown on traffic violations, resulting in penalties against over 2,300 vehicles and motorcycles in a single week. The operation, directed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aims to improve road safety and enforce traffic regulations.
The ITP’s weekly performance report reveals that 1,655 motorcycles and 694 other vehicles were seized for various infractions. Fines were issued for a range of offenses, including 805 lane violations, 114 cases of driving without a license, and 872 instances of improper parking and driving against traffic.
Furthermore, authorities penalized 1,325 vehicles displaying unauthorized number plates and 1,077 for ignoring traffic signals. A significant number of motorcyclists, 1,522, were also cited for not wearing helmets.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, Captain (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider, stated that the rigorous enforcement will continue, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach to traffic violations. He urged public cooperation with traffic personnel to ensure road safety and ordered officers to strictly enforce licensing requirements.
