Islamabad rejects Indian criticism, calls New Delhi’s remarks ‘ridiculous’

Pakistan today strongly refuted India’s criticism of recent operations against terrorist safe havens in Afghanistan in a statement, terming New Delhi’s remarks as “ridiculous, unnecessary and shamefully hypocritical” and alleging that Indian frustration over the devastation of terrorism in its region is a result of the ongoing conflict between the two countries.

In a response to media queries concerning a statement from India”s Ministry of External Affairs, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi asserted that New Delhi”s vexation is “quite understandable.”

Mr Andrabi levelled several accusations against India, citing its continued “illegal occupation” of Jammu and Kashmir, which he claimed is in violation of the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.

The spokesperson further accused India of systematically marginalising its minority populations, propagating Islamophobia, and weaponising water resources in breach of its treaty obligations.

Concluding his statement, Andrabi declared that with such “shameful credentials,” India is in no position to make such pronouncements. He urged New Delhi to instead concentrate on refraining from its alleged efforts to stoke terrorism within Pakistan originating from Afghan soil.
