Islamabad will appeal to UN for $500m grant to continue relief work in flood-hit areas: Envoy

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram has said that Pakistan would appeal to the UN for a 500 million dollars grant to continue relief work in flood-hit areas of the country.

Taking to PTV, he said after completing task of relief work, Pakistan would start reconstruction and rehabilitation phase. The Pakistan’s envoy said, UN Secretary General met with international organizations and departments to fetch out more help for Pakistan’s flood victims.

A task force has been constituted by the UN to assist Pakistan in this regard. The ambassador also apprised that a conference would also be convened in the near future to urge the international world for more financial support aimed at reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-hit areas in Pakistan.
