Provincial Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, Moulana Abdul Haq Hashmi on Tuesday said that JI would stage a protest sit-in titled Haq Do Awam Ko (give rights to the masses) on July 12, 2024 in Islamabad against high taxes and exorbitant power tariff.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club, he said that the incumbent government had not been mandated by the masses rather it was the government of form-47, adding that taxes in the budget of the current fiscal year had been levied at the behest of IMF.

He said that elite class of people had been exempted from taxes while the poor class had been over burdened with taxes. He added it was not known as to how the present government accepted the conditions of International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Zamindars were on the roads for redressal of their grievances while law and order situation had deteriorated in Balochistan, he said. The JI leader said JI would set up camps in all the districts of the province to mobilise masses to participate in the sit-in to be staged on July 12, adding, ‘We will go to Islamabad at any cost.’
