Jinnah Park will be built in place of Aladeen Park: Governor

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori on Saturday said that a beautiful park will be built in place of the 72-acre Aladeen Park and its name is proposed as Jinnah Park.

“Development will be done with coordination with everyone. Private sector and philanthropists will be involved in the construction and development of Karachi. A beautiful park will be built in place of the 72-acre Aladeen Park and its name is proposed as Jinnah Park,” Sindh Governor said this on the occasion of a visit to Aladeen Park along with Administrator Karachi Dr Syed Saifur Rahman.

Director General Parks Junaidullah Khan, Chief Electrical Engineer Ghaffar Sheikh, Senior Director KMC Nauman Arshad and other officers were also present on the occasion. Later talking to media representatives, he said that now development work will be seen day and night in Karachi. “The newly appointed Administrator Karachi is experienced and the city will benefit from his experience,” he added.

Sindh Governor asked the advertiser companies to immediately remove the diagonally placed signboards from the city on their own otherwise the entire process of removing the signboards will start from next week.

He said that the former administration of Aladeen did not compensate the affected shopkeepers, adding that he will talk to Association of Builders and Developers so that a solution can be found. He directed the Red Line Bus Rapid Transport administration to remove the massive barrier at the park site.

Tessori said that all these works would be done before the 18th December, after which he will visit the park himself. He said that lights are being fixed, tree planting has been started along the roads and seasonal flowers are being planted.

“Today the construction of a new park has been started in place of Aladeen Park,” he added. Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman said on the occasion that he intend to serve the city with full potential. “We all want the improvement of the city,” he said and added that the world is facing the challenge of climate change and Pakistan is also facing its effects.

He said that in the light of the forecast of the Meteorological department, the billboards on the sides of the buildings and roads will be removed so that there is no loss of life. Dr Saifur Rehman said that the park will provide recreational facilities to thousands of citizens.

“Urban forest and other recreational facilities will also be provided in the park. Like Kidney Hill, he will supervise this park himself and KMC will use its resources to make this park one of the best recreational places,” said the Administrator.

He said that under the orders of the Supreme Court, no other constructions can be done in place of the parks. He said that encroachments will be removed from all parks of KMC, so that the citizens can have affordable and quality entertainment.
