JKCSF urges stakeholders to look into the reasons of fall down of fruit industry

Srinagar, September 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) has urged the stakeholders of the fruit industry to look into the reasons for the continued setback of the fruit industry with regard to its demand and price in the market.

The JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani in a statement issued in Srinagar said continued least demand for Kashmir fruit particularly the apple in the peak season reaching now was not a good sign for the industry which remains the backbone of economy of Kashmir.

The Forum has asked the market experts to go for a prompt and in depth research for the reasons why Kashmir fruits apple, walnuts and almond demand decreased from the markets and the prices also came down. Why did the raw material cost like apple boxes get hiked and the apple itself fell low.

The JKCSF demanded a permanent ban on the sale of colouring agents/sprays of fruits, giving the reason that it (colouring) destroys the image of the industry and affects the reputation of the fruit growers.
