JKML condemns police raid on residence of Rafique Ganai

Srinagar, January 23, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) has strongly condemned the repeated raids on the house of its General Secretary, Muhammad Rafique Ganai, in Nowgam area of Srinagar, the other night, and harassment of his family members by Indian police.

The JKML Acting Chairman, Abdul Ahad Parra, in a statement issued in Srinagar said raiding the house of Muhammad Rafique Ganai during night more than six times and harassing his wife and children and slapping draconian law Public Safety Act on party activist, Feroz Ahmed Khan, is the worst form of state terrorism.

“The men in uniform have declared a war against the JKML activists, which is utmost highhandedness. They are harassing the activists without any rhyme and reason. This harassment is unwanted and speaks volumes about the atrocious attitude of the Indian forces,” he said. Abdul Ahad Parra said that India’s brutal tactics will not succeed to suppress the Kashmiris’ genuine struggle for securing their right to self-determination.

He appealed to the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Asia Watch and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take cognizance of the inhuman treatment meted out to the Hurriyat leader and activists and harassment of their families and impress upon India to stop its brutalities in occupied Kashmir.
