Jobless youth commits suicide in Abbottabad

Abbottabad:A jobless youth committed suicide by fastening a rope around his neck and hanging himself from an overhead bridge on busy Shahrah-e-Resham in Abbottabad, police said Tuesday.

The body of the youth was shifted to the DHQ Hospital for the post-mortem. Cantonment Police said they were trying to identify the man.

The tendency to commit suicide in people is on the rise due to unprecedented inflation, high cost of living and inflated electricity bills. The closure of industrial units due to poor economic policies of the last government has rendered millions of people jobless, thus further exacerbating the situation.

Only yesterday, a youth, fed up with electricity bills, climbed a high transmission line near Police Lines in sector H-11 of Islamabad.

As soon as they received information, police and the administration rushed to save the youth’s life. Ultimately, he was brought down with the help of a crane.
