Paris King Abdullah II of Jordan stressed the need to step up international efforts to achieve just and lasting peace based on the twostate solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
King Abdullah made the remarks during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysee Palace on Wednesday, where they discussed ways to enhance strategic cooperation between Jordan and France, as well as the latest regional developments.
During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Christchurch Call to Action to Eliminate Terrorist and Violent Extremist Content Online, the two leaders discussed efforts to counter extremist ideology and terrorism within a holistic approach, Jordan news agency Petra reported.
In his meeting with President of European Commission JeanClaude Juncker, the Jordanian king also reaffirmed the need to reach a just and lasting peace based on the twostate solution leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the lines of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. Both sides also discussed the crises in the region, especially the Syrian crisis and efforts to bring about a political solution that preserves Syria’s territorial integrity and the unity of its people.
