A protest rally was organized in Nasirabad under the banner of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), where participants highlighted the issue of inadequate rice prices affecting local farmers. The protesters demanded the price of rice be set at Rs. 4,000 per 40 kg, declaring the current price insufficient to cover necessary agricultural expenses.
Led by prominent figures including Comrade Bashir Baghi, Ghulam Mustafa Maitlo, and Sudheer Kalhoro, activists gathered in the Kachia Bazar area. Carrying rice, pamphlets, and banners, the procession marched through the town’s streets and concluded at the Nasirabad Sachal Press Club. There, the protesters reiterated their demand for a substantial increase in rice prices.
The demonstrators expressed concern over the lack of support for farmers from the government, stressing that the current price structure does not allow growers to cover expenses related to seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural chemicals. They stated that this financial pressure is exacerbating the economic hardships faced by the farming community.
The protesters urged the authorities to immediately revise the prices of rice to ensure fair treatment for those working in agriculture. The rally highlighted the broader demand for justice and stability for farmers who are burdened by inadequate compensation.
