In a decisive move to address the persistent public safety hazard posed by uncovered drains, municipal authorities have initiated a citywide operation to secure all open manholes following a direct order from Mayor Karachi, Murtaza Wahab.
According to KMC information today, the directive, aimed at preventing further accidents and civilian injuries, was issued by the mayor to the Water Board.
Under the new mandate, the Water Board is tasked with supplying the necessary manhole covers to the office of City Warden Director Saim Imran.
Following the provision of materials, teams of city wardens have now commenced the extensive task of installing the covers, effectively sealing the dangerous openings throughout the metropolis.
This public safety initiative was officially confirmed in a communication from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
