Karachi police thwarted an illegal manufacturing operation on Saturday, arresting two individuals red-handed while producing a large quantity of gutka and mawa during a raid in the Landhi area.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement personnel from the Landhi Police Station raided a residential house being used as a clandestine factory. The operation, supervised by SDPO Landhi Faiza Sudher, targeted house number 286 in Sector 2C.
During the operation, authorities took two suspects, Haider son of Munawar and Nazia Ansari wife of Nadeem, into custody. The pair was found actively engaged in the preparation of the illegal items at the time of their arrest.
A large consignment of raw materials and finished products was seized from the scene. The recovered items include 60 kilograms of betel nuts, 240 packets of prepared mawa, and various chemicals and binding agents, such as slaked lime, a red chemical solution, and a product named “Ratna 700.” A weighing machine used in the operation was also confiscated.
According to a spokesperson for SSP Korangi, legal proceedings have been initiated against the detained individuals in accordance with the law.
The suspects have been transferred to the investigation department for a more extensive probe into the matter, and the investigation is ongoing.
