Karachi Mayor Reveals Completion of 2.1 Million Climate-Resilient Homes

A monumental housing initiative has provided 2.1 million climate-resilient homes to citizens, with a focus on empowering women through property ownership, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced today while representing the city at the Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) in Dubai.

The mayor presented Karachi”s development stance at the prestigious international forum, which convened city leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the globe to share strategies on urban planning, climate change, and sustainable growth. He expressed that Karachi”s inclusion among major world cities at the summit was a significant achievement.

“Karachi is the heart of Pakistan – a city that represents economic vibrancy, cultural diversity, and human resilience,” Wahab stated. He outlined the vision of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Sindh Government to elevate the metropolis into the ranks of the world”s leading urban centers.

This vision, he explained, is being realized through the promotion of modern urban facilities, eco-friendly transport, clean energy, and balanced urban planning. Wahab emphasized that being recognized on such a global stage signifies that Karachi is on the correct path toward sustainable advancement and is opening new avenues for international cooperation.

Detailing the massive housing project, the mayor noted that the development goes beyond mere infrastructure. “These projects represent a journey of restoring human dignity, equality, and justice,” he remarked, highlighting that the initiative provides residents with safe, modern, and sustainable housing while addressing environmental challenges.

A key aspect of the housing program is the granting of home ownership to women, a move the government believes will empower them economically and foster self-reliance. Wahab underscored that this policy is a means of promoting social stability and confidence within communities.

“Every new house symbolizes resilience against climate change, compassion for humanity, and national determination,” the mayor added. He affirmed that these undertakings reflect a philosophy where the nation”s resources are dedicated to the welfare of its people.

Looking ahead, Mayor Wahab identified making Karachi a hub for global trade, investment, and urban cooperation as a top priority. To achieve this, KMC is rapidly implementing projects centered on modern technology, digital governance, clean energy, and public transport systems.

“We have shown the world that even when resources were scarce, we rebuilt hope and life,” Wahab declared. “Today, we are not merely reconstructing infrastructure; we are laying the foundation of a society based on justice, equality, and dignity.”

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to building a future where every resident feels progress and pride, ensuring that Karachi continues its journey to shine globally as a beacon of innovation and sustainable growth.
