Karachi, January 25, 2018 (PPI-OT):Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said illegal bus terminals created lot of troubles for city and caused traffic jam in different areas therefore these have to be removed now and only legal terminals should be allowed to operate in the city for passenger buses, trucks and other transport means. He said this while chairing a meeting in his office on the transport terminals which was attended by the municipal commissioner Dr. Asghar Abbas, city council chairmen of works, land, charged parking, director general works, director anti encroachments and other officers.
Mayor Karachi reviewed the terminals performance and said that KMC have 22 terminals including Yousuf Goth Bus Terminal, Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal, Mauripur Truck Stand and other bus terminals located in the city. He said ware houses which had been established by land mafia in Yousuf Goth illegally will be removed and this land will be used only for the purpose it was allocated. He said the Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal was ready to operate and I request the Supreme Court to take notice of the not shifting of oil tankers in this terminal from many areas of the city and the law enforcement agencies also take action in this connection.
Mayor Karachi directed officers to ensure hundred percent revenue recovery from the terminals run by KMC and the collected amount should be deposited in KMC account only. He urged the officers to set up duration for achieving recovery targets and the officers concerned make this sure that this target is achieved completely within the given time. Mayor Karachi said action against encroachments in the city should be carried out on larger scale and all the encroachments be removed immediately. He said all efforts being made to bring improvement in the city with the cooperation and support of the people and the traders community.
