Karachi Sohail University National Tennis Championship Successfully Concludes

une-2026 (PPI) The National Tennis Championship at Sohail University concluded today with great success at Karachi’s Modern Club, showcasing a week of competitive spirit and tennis excellence.

This prestigious event, organized under the patronage of Sohail University and in collaboration with the Karachi Tennis Association, Pakistan Tennis Federation, and Sindh Tennis Association, attracted 240 entries from across the country. Participants competed in various categories for prizes worth 1.54 million rupees, distributed in the form of equipment to winners and runners-up in national junior events. Non-local participants were also provided with the facility of economy class railway fares.

The closing ceremony of the championship was attended by Professor Dr. Muhammad Saeed Qureshi (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), Vice Chancellor of Sohail University, as the chief guest. Distinguished guests included Air Commodore (R) Dr. Shahid Baqar, Dr. Sabih H. Jafri, and several notable figures from the tennis community and other fields.

The tournament witnessed intense matches in various categories. In the Boys Under 18 Singles, Muhammad Yahya from Islamabad was declared the winner against Rashid Bachani. Ayesha Asif won the Girls Under 18 Singles title by defeating Rania Bas. In Men’s Singles, Raheem Waqar overcame Haziq Arijo, while Arij Batool triumphed over Ayesha Asif in Ladies Singles.

In junior categories, Rashid Bachani, Iman Shahbaz, and Ayan Shahbaz won titles in their respective age groups. There was also fierce competition in the doubles events, where Muhammad Yahya and Rashid Bachani won the Under 18 Doubles, while Mahatir and Rohaib Faisal claimed the Men’s Doubles title.

The championship not only highlighted emerging talent but also reinforced the importance of promoting the spirit of sports in Pakistan and nurturing future tennis stars.
