Karachi, The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), in partnership with the Fehmida Begum Foundation, recently held an event focused on empowering women within the industrial sector. The event featured discussions on the critical role women play in economic and industrial development and was attended by key figures from both organizations.

According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, KATI President Johar Qandhari emphasized the underappreciation of women in business despite their crucial contributions. He noted the gradual increase in women's participation in multinational corporations, particularly in sectors like banking and healthcare, but highlighted ongoing challenges related to credibility and security. Qandhari stressed that empowering women, who make up half of Pakistan's population, is vital for national development.

The event also served as a platform for acknowledging the efforts of Nighat Awan, KATI's Senior Vice President, in advancing women's roles through education and professional training. The discussion extended to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the unique challenges women face in society, emphasizing the lack of sufficient government initiatives for women's empowerment.

Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya spoke about the increasing involvement of women in the private sector and the dual responsibilities they manage, balancing both professional and domestic roles. He also pointed out the economic necessity for all household members to contribute financially.

Zahid Hameed, Standing Committee Chairman, outlined various collaborative efforts with the Fehmida Begum Foundation to enhance professional training for women, helping them become self-reliant and increasing their employment opportunities in industries.

The event concluded with commitments from former KATI Presidents and other dignitaries to continue supporting initiatives that empower women, thereby fostering broader social and economic development.
