Leaders of the business community expressed serious concern over the growing threat of crime in industrial areas during a high-level meeting with the newly appointed Inspector General of Police for Sindh, Javed Alam Odho.
A delegation led by Mohammad Akram Rajput, President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), met with the new IG at the Police Head Office today to congratulate him on his appointment and to apprise him of their concerns. The delegation included key figures such as KATI’s Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya and KITE Limited Chairman Zahid Saeed.
Mr. Rajput emphasized that sustainable law and order is an essential prerequisite for promoting industrial and commercial activities, linking the security situation directly to economic prosperity. The law and order situation and the significant security challenges faced by industrialists were discussed in detail during the conversation.
The KATI President praised Mr. Odho’s previous tenure as Karachi Police Chief, mentioning his past role in crime reduction and police reforms. Mr. Rajput expressed hope that under the new IG’s leadership, effective strategies could transform industrial zones into crime-free areas.
He stressed the need for close liaison between the police and the industrial community, stating that mutual cooperation is crucial to discourage criminal elements and to encourage new investment and employment opportunities.
In response, Inspector General Javed Alam Odho assured the KATI representatives that the police will take all possible measures to protect the lives and property of citizens and the business community.
The IG Sindh affirmed that the protection of industrialists, traders, and investors is the top priority of the provincial police force. He described industrial activities as the “backbone of the country’s economy.”
Mr. Odho stated that the Sindh Police is utilizing all available resources to make security in industrial areas effective, eliminate criminal activities, and ensure a swift response to any incident.
At the conclusion of the discussion, the IG reiterated the importance of a strong partnership and trust between law enforcement agencies and the industrial sector, calling it a key component for facilitating industrial growth.
