Khuhro sees Centre struggling to take over provincial autonomy

LARKANA: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said Monday that Centre was struggling to take over provincial autonomy by weakening the provinces administratively and economically to strengthen itself, but Pakistan Peoples Party would never allow it to usurp rights of the provinces.

This he said while addressing a large gathering of party activists at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Memorial Hall Larkana to celebrate the 68th birthday of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto where a 68 pounds cake was also cut.

Khuhro said the PTI government presented an IMF-oriented people’s enemy budget in the parliament where budget books were thrown in the session which caused disrespect around the world. He said there was no better option now in Pakistan politics than Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Khuhro said they would make Bilawal Prime Minister of the country.

He said that instead of giving relief to the masses, people were facing unprecedented price hikes and now slogans of ‘Go Imran Go’ had started showing results because PTI was facing defeat in all by-elections. He said the discriminatory attitude of the PTI towards Sindh over the water issue was evident because despite objections, Sindh’s water share was stolen by opening Chashma Jhelum Link Canal.

He said: “Center is not giving proper NFC share and Sindh is also not being given development schemes (as compared to other provinces). Through these acts, the Center intends to weaken the provinces and strengthen itself by weakening the provinces administratively and economically which will never be allowed.”

Khuhro said Sindh was ahead of Center in raising monthly salaries of government employees because Center had enhanced 10% salaries and Sindh had raised 20% adding growers had also been provided relief as wheat support price was fixed at Rs2000 per 40 kg. He said all promises made by the Center of giving jobs and providing relief to the people had turned out to be fake and U-Turns.

Khuhro said: “Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had made commitments with the masses before her assassination in 2007, and we are moving forwards that direction to accomplish those promises. He said Mohtarma came here to establish people’s rule by contesting elections. He said people gave mandate to the Pakistan Peoples Party and we completed a five year-term during. He said: Shaheed Benazir did not bow down her head despite severe difficulties which is why the world is still remembering her and laying floral wreaths in her memory.”
