KMC Allocates Over Rs 2 Billion for New Flyover and Commercial Area Upgrades in Karachi

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) informed today that it has initiated a substantial development program with an investment exceeding two billion rupees, aimed at constructing new transport infrastructure and rehabilitating the city’s primary business districts.

The program’s centerpiece is the Azeempura Flyover, a project designed to establish a direct link between Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Shahrah-e-Faisal through the Airport Interchange, with the stated goal of easing urban traffic congestion.

A separate allocation of 600 million rupees has been designated for the uplift of commercial hubs. This part of the initiative focuses on improving the aesthetic and functional aspects of downtown Karachi and creating modernized public spaces.

According to the KMC, tenders for the approved schemes have been issued through an e-pad bidding process to maintain transparency in procurement.

Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has directed municipal officials to finalize all procedural requirements and commence construction work without delay. In a review meeting, the mayor noted that the flyover is intended to improve mobility for commuters, particularly those traveling to and from the airport.

Mayor Wahab stated that the administration, with support from the Pakistan People’s Party leadership and the Sindh Government, aims to complete the projects within a one-year timeframe.

The overall objectives of the initiatives are to enhance traffic flow and connectivity while improving the appeal of Karachi”s commercial zones for residents, businesses, and commuters.
