Kumar happy as Sindh surpasses tax target in FY21-22

Karachi: Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department said on Saturday that it has achieved 111% tax targets till the end of the financial year 2021-22 by collecting a total of Rs133,350 million various taxes.

This was informed at a meeting of the department chaired by Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Mukesh Kumar Chawla. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Sindh Atif Rehman Khan, Director Generals Aurangzeb Panhyar, Iqbal Ahmad Leghari, Directors Waheed Sheikh, Samina Bhutto and other officers.

The meeting was informed that in the outgoing financial year 2021-22, a total tax of Rs 133,350.483 million was collected against Rs 102,975.633 million in the previous financial year 2020-21.

Director General Excise and Taxation Aurangzeb Panhyar briefing the meeting told that Rs 12,176.690 million was collected in terms of motor vehicle tax and Rs 112,281.670 million tax under infrastructure chess. He further said that Rs858.902 million tax was collected in terms of professional tax, Rs2071.116 million in property tax and Rs132.437 million in cotton fee and Rs80.134 million in entertainment duty.

Addressing the meeting, Chawla said that he was happy that due to the good performance of the officers and staff of the excise department, they had achieved 111% of Sindh’s tax targets. Due to their wonderful performance, they have been able to achieve more than 100% tax targets over the years. Chawla also expressed his hope that the tax defaulters would pay their taxes as soon as possible in the new financial year.
