The leadership of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are set to review the full scope of their bilateral relationship, with a focus on exploring new avenues for cooperation in key sectors such as trade, energy, and defence, following the arrival of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov in the capital today.
According to an official report today, President Zhaparov commenced his two-day maiden state visit to Pakistan, where he was formally received at the airport by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
A 21-gun salute was presented to honour the visiting dignitary, who was also welcomed with a bouquet of flowers by children in traditional attire. The head of state is accompanied by a high-level delegation consisting of senior cabinet ministers, top-ranking officials, and prominent business figures from the Central Asian nation.
The itinerary for the visit includes a meeting with the President of Pakistan, one-on-one discussions with the Prime Minister, and subsequent delegation-level talks. President Zhaparov is also scheduled to address the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum.
Discussions between the two sides are anticipated to cover a wide range of topics, including enhancing cooperation in education, fostering people-to-people exchanges, and improving regional connectivity.
This official visit is seen as a reflection of the established ties between Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, which are underpinned by a shared history, common faith, and mutual aspirations for peace and prosperity in Central and South Asia.
