LAHORE: Lahore police Friday claimed to have foiled a bid to supply over 40kg drugs and arrested three suspects, including a couple in Sabzazar area.

While addressing a press conference, Sabzazar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zulfiqar said that the police did a recce of the area for 15 days before arresting the accused. He said that the Sabzazar station house officer (SHO) and his team worked hard to arrest the accused, adding that the accused were identified as Usman, his wife Shamshad and Hamza.

The DSP stated that they had been involved in supplying drugs in different areas of Lahore, but the police never became suspicious about them because of a woman with them. “The accused left for supplying more than 40kg of drugs in a vehicle,” said DSP Zulfiqar, adding that the police arrested the accused on the tip-off of an informant.

“An accomplice of them who managed to escape will be arrested soon,” he vowed and said that a case of drug-trafficking had been registered against the accused. “We will not allow the future of the nation to be ruined at any cost,” he pledged and added that noose around the drug peddlers were being tightened.
