LARKANA: A young man committed suicide by jumping into the Rice Canal here on Thursday due to prolonged unemployment and poverty.

According to rescue sources, Ali Raza Soomro, 28 years, jumping into the Rice Canall, ending his life. He was father of two minor sons and left behind a widow as well. He was resident of Murad Wahan locality of Larkana. His heirs appealed to the district administration to help recover his body. Assistant commissioner Rice Canal Ahmed Ali Soomro reached the spot and directed Irrigation Department engineers to lower the doors of the regulator at Lahori muhalla but his body was not found till filing of this report.

Soomro said that Navy team in Sukkur had also been written a letter by the deputy commissioner to help the administration to find the body. He said all out efforts will be made to find the body and hand it over to the heirs.
